Position: Psychological Services Manager

Salary: £39,942 - £46,437

We are looking for a professional and energetic psychologically trained clinician or senior counsellor, to lead and manage our Welfare and Counselling team. You will be a strategic thinker, with experience of leading in a health and wellbeing setting, preferably within a workplace.

This is a full time role with the benefits of flexible working, and is part of the multidisciplinary Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare Team, providing support to Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue.

This exciting role will lead and manage delivery of psychological services, and will have an active interest in establishing best practice and exploring opportunities for continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will ensure delivery of an exceptional service against KPIs, and be able to resolve service delivery issues at the earliest opportunity locally, reviewing and monitoring customer data to measure the quality and effectiveness of psychological service delivery.

You will possess a Psychological or Counselling qualification to degree level or preferably higher. To be able to support the specialist nature of this team, you must be accredited with a professional body (BPS, BABCP, BACP or equivalent) as a minimum. While you will not usually carry a caseload, your proven track record in working with a wide range of issues, particularly including complex trauma and PTSD, will enable you to support your team and help to expand their skills, providing ongoing supervision where appropriate. You will maintain and improve quality of standards using data, audits, best practice and analytical reports.

You will also support the daily running of the unit with the other Unit Managers, working closely with the Head of OHSW, ensuring that the unit runs effectively and efficiently, and that the service provided is of the highest quality.

Excellent communication and organizational skills are vital, along with the enthusiasm to embrace an ever changing and challenging environment, working actively to discover new ways to enhance efficiency. In return you will work with multidisciplinary teams using a ‘working together’ approach in a flexible and agile way to deliver results.

While the role is Mon-Fri, office hours, you must be willing to support both organisations out of hours where exceptional circumstances arise.

Staffordshire have a strong commitment to equality and diversity in our people, within the organisation and in the services we provide to our communities.

We want to reflect the communities we serve and one way we can try to achieve this is through a 'positive action' approach.

Positive action is activity which helps employers identify and remove barriers and issues to the recruitment, retention and progression of people who identify with underrepresented groups of the Equalities Act 2010 (i.e. LGBT+, ethnicity, disability), whilst still employing people on merit.
