Counter Terrorism Policing - Fixed Intelligence Management Unit

Grade E Support Assistant, Northern Hub WMCTU

 

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

 

The post holder will be actively involved in the research and evaluation of information from a diverse array of overt, discrete and covert information sources to formulate an intelligence picture and understanding in support of other stakeholders.

 

Alongside the systems research and interrogation, further responsibilities are to deliver essential administrative tasks to enable the smooth running of the department.

 

The post holder’s normal place of work will be from the WMCTU Northern Hub Office at Police HQ, Weston Road, Stafford, however the role requires close working relations with the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit (WMCTU) and therefore a willingness to be flexible and travel throughout the Region for collaborative working and CPD is essential.

 

Essential Experience:

 

  • Proven administrative experience
  • Experience of gathering and analysing information from a range of sources demonstrating excellent problem-solving skills, in order to make effective decisions and support action.
  • IT literate demonstrating experience of Windows based applications including Microsoft Office packages, with good keyboard skills evidencing the ability to learn and utilise new packages.
  • Experience of working to multiple deadlines and delivering results through effective planning and organising of work demonstrated by the ability to prioritise own time and workload, working methodically, accurately and with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure, displaying attention to detail, thoroughness in approach and concentration for long periods of time.
  • Have excellent communication skills demonstrating the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a diverse range of people ensuring their needs are identified and met within resources constraints and in writing, presenting information which is clear, logical and focused.
  • Knowledge of the Data Protection Act and ideally Management of Police Information with experience of maintaining information within agreed performance standards and legal requirements.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of CTU structures and practices.
  • Security Cleared vetting status
  • Hold Developed Vetting
  • Operational experience of working within either an overt/covert intelligence environment
  • Understanding of STRAP environment and the requirements of managing assets within a secure environment.
  • Good understanding of Intelligence principles
  • In-depth working knowledge of Police IT systems and ability to operate computer databases

Additional information

The role requires the post holder to have significant flexibility and a willingness to travel often outside the force area. The post holder must maintain confidentiality and trust at all times regarding information gained in the post.

⚠ This role is subject to successful completion of Developed Vetting.

You must be a British citizen to work for the Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM). If you hold dual nationality, with

the primary nationality British, you may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearances of Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002). CTP WM will support preferred candidates through the appropriate vetting process.
