We have an exciting opportunity to join our Operational Support department as a Custody Detention Officer, working at our Northern Area Custody Suite within the Staffordshire Police Force area.
Working with the Custody Sergeant, your role will be to ensure the dignity and welfare of detainees from the moment they arrive until they are released. Duties range from administration of custody IT systems, through to managing the welfare of the detainee whilst in their cell.
You will be responsible for delivering a safe and secure environment for those detained in connection with a wide variety of criminal matters. The custody environment is fast paced and can be unpleasant at times, so you must enjoy working at pace whilst being faced with challenging situations.
Dealing with people brings a need for excellent communication skills, as well as requiring the ability to remain calm when presented with volatile situations.
We will provide you with all the required training during an initial 4-week training course to ensure that you have all of the knowledge and skills required for the role.
Further details relating to the role and responsibilities can be found within the role profile.
The successful applicants will need to undertake Security Vetting, Medical and a Fitness Test (which includes a bleep test and reach the level of 5.4) and you may also be required to complete a drugs test.
We would advise all applicants to tailor their CV to meet the criteria on the role profile.
