Counter Terrorism Policing - Fixed Intelligence Management Unit

Detective Sergeant - WMCTU North Hub - Serving Police Officers only 

Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to help protect the public and our national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity.

 

As a member of the Intelligence Team, you will be responsible for the management surrounding the receipt, assessment, dissemination and development of intelligence, ensuring all intelligence is managed in line with policy and standards, ensuring compliance with the National Standards of Intelligence Management (NSIM).

Essential Experience:

 

  • Evidence a working knowledge of Covert and Overt intelligence practices.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of MOPI, National Intelligence Model (NIM) and Government Security Classifications (GSC) of information.
  • To show initiative and innovation whilst working as part of a team.
  • To be able to undertake sensitive high profile enquiries with limited supervision.
  • Proven experience of managing a team working on major/complex investigations.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of CTU structures and practices.
  • Knowledge of covert policing techniques and major investigations.
  • Knowledge of RIPA legislation
  • SC / DV Vetted

This vacancy is open to Officers wishing to be transfer to Staffordshire Police. (Relocation costs will not be covered)

You must be employed by a Home Office Force in order to apply.

The role is subject to successful completion of Security Checks.

(Applications from officers with less than 12 months in their current rank will not be supported)

Successful applicants will be invited in for a competency based interview and you will have to pass a medical, background checks and a job related fitness test.

The role requires the post holder to have significant flexibility and a willingness to travel often outside the force area. The post holder

must maintain confidentiality and trust at all times regarding information gained in the post.

⚠ This role is subject to successful completion of Developed Vetting.

You must be a British citizen to work for the Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands (CTPWM). If you hold dual nationality, with the primary nationality British, you may also be considered. For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants will be required to hold or acquire the appropriate national security vetting clearances of Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) in line with Cabinet Office Policy, supported by Section 82(2) to (4) of the Police Reform Act (2002). CTP WM will support preferred candidates through the appropriate vetting process.
