Head of Corporate Communications

We are looking for a Head of Corporate Communications to lead the shared communications team for Staffordshire Police and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping both services deliver on their ambition of making Staffordshire safer for local communities.

About the role

You will lead the external and internal communications, digital and brand strategies, ensuring they are aligned with the vision, values and priorities of both organisations, and helping to build public trust and confidence, and community engagement. You will provide leadership and direction to the shared communications team and you will also work closely with the Executive Teams, providing advice and guidance on both proactive and reactive issues affecting the Force. You will also be responsible for leading the communications response to a wide range of critical incidents and representing the organisations on multi agency groups at a regional and national level.

About you

You will be able to demonstrate your substantial knowledge and experience of successfully:

• Supporting organizational and cultural change by developing and implementing effective communications and engagement strategies.
• Leading the development and delivery of innovative communication, PR and digital strategies.
• Managing complex media and influencer relationship and achieving positive outcomes.
• Leading and developing a corporate communications function in a dynamic environment.
• Leading large projects and change programmes.
• Reporting into exec level and supporting, coaching and influencing senior executives and leaders
• Identifying and leading initiatives including digital and social, to improve current and future performance of the organization and the corporate communications function.
• Leading the corporate communications response to critical incidents.

You will have

• A developed political awareness and sensitivity, and understanding of the issues facing emergency services and the wider public services in the current and future climate.

• Experience of operating at a senior level in corporate communications, journalism or PR

• Degree or equivalent experience in a similar role with a recognised post graduate professional qualification such as CIPR, CIM, CAM, NCTJ.
