About Us:
Staffordshire Fire & Rescue Service (SFRS) is seeking a skilled and motivated ICT Engineer to join our ICT, Strategy & Intelligence Department (SID). This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment and contribute to the effective provision of technical support for the entire service.
Key Details:
- Hours: 37 hours per week (Green Book) - Flexible working scheme in operation.
- Location: SFRS Headquarters, Pirehill, Stone, Staffs, ST15 0BS.
Role Overview: The ICT Engineer will work as part of the service desk team to monitor and maintain effective technical support within the Service. This role involves providing first and second-line support on a 24-hour rota basis, including weekends and bank holidays.
Key Duties:
- Provide first and second-level support for all ICT resources, including fault identification, reporting, escalation, and liaising with external contractors for timely resolution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders and third-party contractors, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
- Stay updated on existing and emerging technologies, influencing user requirements, and collaborating with the technical team on ongoing and prospective projects.
- Provide high-level technical advice and guidance to Managers, evaluating infrastructure and system proposals, and ensuring technical standards are met.
- Interpret user requirements, develop project proposals, and communicate work schedules for internal and external parties.
Person Specification: Qualifications/Experience:
- HNC in Computer-related subject or a minimum of 2 years of experience in a computer-related environment.
- Knowledge of development and implementation of both front and back-end systems.
- Knowledge of voice and data networking solutions.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and software.
- Advanced knowledge of available hardware solutions, including servers, PCs, and printers.
- Previous experience with "thin client" technology and Cisco Networking Systems for an integrated IP infrastructure.
Personal Competencies:
- Manual Handling.
