MASH Researcher/Call Handler

Grade E £22,593 to £26,565

The post holder will be based at Lindum House, Stone, within the Police MASH Team, forming part of the wider Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub.

They will be an integral part of a dynamic area of multi-agency working, responsible for call handling, research, dissemination and inputting of information onto a computer system.

The post will be the first point of contact for telephone calls/e-mails into MASH. The call handling function will require excellent communication skills and the ability to assess risk and prioritise situations.

The post holder will be required to gather information from various sources, hard copy and from police computer systems, assess information relating to a range of vulnerable person referrals, conduct risk assessments and process the referral/case information onto the most suitable police system to support decision making within MASH.

The core work will involve researching and assessing information from child protection referrals, vulnerable adult referrals and domestic violence incidents. There may also be a requirement to conduct research in relation to missing persons, hate crime, mental health and other safeguarding issues.

The MASH is at the forefront of multi-agency working within Staffordshire and the person appointed will require creativity, resilience and an ability to balance and meet competing demand whilst working as part of a police team and more widely with colleagues from other agencies within a multi-agency setting. 

The unit operates from 8am until 6pm Monday to Friday.
